Crandall Johnston is a Senior Economist with the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Economic Analysis and Information office. For someone that doesn’t like hats, he sure wears a lot of them. In his role, he provides regional analysis of BLS data, writes new releases, provides internal/external training, does presentations to industry organizations and universities, works at conferences to promote BLS data, answers questions about BLS data, and creates marketing materials, to name a few things he does.
After leaving the Marine Corps., where he worked as a Russian Linguist and Signals Intelligence Specialist, Crandall received his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Economics from the University of Missouri - Kansas City. He worked for several years in accounting and investment banking before joining the BLS. Crandall has worked for the BLS for 5 years. He started in data collection for the National Compensation Survey and then moved over to his current role. When not working, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, playing D&D and reading.
