The third quarter ACCRA Cost of Living Index for the Wichita MSA was 90.9. The national average for the 315 participating urban areas was 100. The Index value ranged from 214.7 in New York (Manhattan), N.Y., to 84.3 in Pueblo, Colo.
C2ER, the organization that collects prices from communities across the United States, noticed a significant decline in the price of milk and eggs in the third quarter. The average price of milk for the 315 urban areas was $1.87. Wichita’s average price was $1.98. Prices ranged from $3.81 in Honolulu, Hawaii, to $1.05 in Prescott-Prescott Valley, Ariz.
The national average for a dozen eggs in the participating urban areas was $1.25. The average price in the Wichita MSA was $1.47. Egg prices ranged from $2.96 a dozen in Truckee-Nevada County, Calif., to 73 cents in Sheboygan, Wisc.
