In the first half of 2013, both the United States and Wichita have continued a modest recovery. Nationally, employment grew 1.1 percent from the second quarter of 2012 to the second quarter of 2013. Wichita employment grew 0.8 percent over the same time period. Total nonfarm employment is expected to increase by 3,419 jobs in 2014, for a growth rate of 1.2 percent.
