Colonel David A. Weishaar is the Commander, 184th Intelligence Wing, Kansas Air National Guard, McConnell AFB, Kansas. Colonel Weishaar commands more than 1,300 Guardsmen who execute a broad spectrum of missions including intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, network and information operations and command and control. In addition, the wing fields a full complement of support functions including civil engineering, security forces, medical, and force support units. All of these missions greatly enhance the U.S. Air Force’s capability to provide actionable intelligence and information dominance for combat forces around the globe.
Colonel Weishaar initially entered the Air Force in Jan 1981 as an aircraft maintenance specialist maintaining the KC-135A and R. He separated from the active duty Air Force and joined the Kansas Air National Guard in 1985. He held various positions in the aircraft maintenance arena maintaining the F-4D, F-16A, B, C, and D, and the B-1B until his commissioning in 1996. After gaining his commission, Colonel Weishaar has held several positions in the 184th to include Chief, Logistics Plans, Chief of Supply, NOSS Crew Commander, Communications Flight Commander, 127th Command and Control Squadron Commander, 299th Network Operations Security Squadron Commander, the 184th Regional Support Group Commander, and the 184th Mission Support Group Commander.
