Josh Roe

Josh Roe is a native of north-central Kansas where he was raised on a family crop and cattle operation where he still plays an active management role. Josh represents the 6th generation in his family to own and operate the farm in Republic and Jewell counties.
He holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Agricultural Economics from Kansas State University and Iowa State University. Upon graduation Josh worked for eight years in the Department of Agricultural Economics at K-State. His specialties include economic impact modeling, agricultural finance and taxation, farm management, and bio-fuel economics.
He joined the Kansas Department of Agriculture as the staff economist in January 2014 and was named Assistant Secretary of Agriculture in February of 2015 and Deputy Secretary in August of 2017. His duties include leading the state and federal legislative policy teams for the agency, economic development, serving on commodity commission boards, and the supervision of agency administrative services.
